This building was a palace, a fortress, the residence of Isabel I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon, as well as a prison. It was declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 1931 and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. The architectural ensemble has a sober character on the outside and a splendid interior, with magnificent gardens and courtyards that retain a Mudejar inspiration.
