Colisée
The Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, is Rome’s most iconic monument and one of the most famous landmarks in the world. Built nearly 2,000 years ago in the heart of ancient Rome, this immense stone amphitheater once hosted spectacular public events, including gladiator battles, wild animal hunts, executions, and dramatic performances that could entertain more than 50,000 spectators at a time.
An extraordinary example of ancient Roman engineering, the Colosseum features a complex system of arches, passageways, and seating tiers designed to manage large crowds efficiently. Beneath the arena floor lay the hypogeum, an underground network of tunnels, cages, and lifts used to prepare gladiators and animals before they emerged dramatically into the arena. Standing inside the Colosseum today offers a powerful glimpse into the social, political, and cultural life of the Roman Empire.

Forum romain
The Roman Forum was the political, religious, and social center of ancient Rome, where daily life of the Roman Empire unfolded for centuries. Located between the Palatine and Capitoline Hills, this vast archaeological area once hosted triumphal processions, public speeches, elections, criminal trials, and commercial activities, making it the true heart of ancient Roman civilization.
As you walk through the Roman Forum today, you can admire the remains of temples, basilicas, arches, and government buildings that shaped Roman public life. Highlights include the Temple of Saturn, once used as the state treasury, the Arch of Septimius Severus, celebrating Roman military victories, and the House of the Vestal Virgins, home to priestesses responsible for maintaining the sacred flame of Rome. The Via Sacra, the main ceremonial road, still runs through the Forum and was used by victorious generals during triumphal parades.

Mont Palatin
Palatine Hill, one of the seven hills of Rome, is considered the legendary birthplace of the city and the cradle of Roman civilization. According to Roman mythology, it was here that Romulus and Remus were found by the she-wolf, and later Romulus founded Rome. Over time, Palatine Hill became the preferred residential area for emperors and aristocrats, making it the center of imperial power.
Walking through Palatine Hill is like stepping back into ancient Rome, offering insight into both the mythology and history that shaped the Eternal City. It is an essential stop for anyone exploring the Colosseum and Roman Forum, completing a journey through Rome’s legendary origins and imperial grandeur.
