One of the Kathmandu Valley’s newest attractions is the Chandragiri Cable Car. This modern cable car rises to the top of the sacred Chandragiri Hill so the faithful can go and worship at the Hindu temple at the summit.
Chandragiri rises to an elevation of 2,551 meters (8,369 ft.). The ride up takes you from the village of Chandragiri over the forests that cover the hill. The short 2 ½ km trip takes around 10 – 12 minutes to reach the top. From there, the views of the snow capped peaks of the mighty Himalayas lay before you in an incredible vista. These snow capped peaks touch the brilliantly blue Himalayan skies as you gaze in awe.

Once on top, go and visit the Chandragiri Temple. It is said that the god Bhaleshwor Mahadev will grant your wish as well as to all faithful who come and visit his temple. There is also a wonderful restaurant on top. Eat out-of-doors or inside, enjoying incredible cuisine.
Stay as long as you want. There are often various local performances in the amphitheatre that are free, or just take in the scenic beauty.
You can ride the cable car back down, or be more adventurous and walk the switchback trail back to the bottom. This trip is a half day adventure which includes your guide and transportation to and from Chandragiri from your hotel in the Kathmandu Valley. Don’t miss this opportunity.
