Our experienced guides will lead you on a tour of Butler Point Heritage Estate. This includes the whaling museum (one of the best private collections of artefacts in NZ Aotearoa), an original whaleboat and the lovingly preserved Butler family 1840s homestead. We stroll through the subtropical gardens (awarded a 5-star rating by NZ Gardens Trust), extensive grounds and amongst majestic trees including our 900 year old pohutukawa, one of the oldest in the country. There is the well interpreted Moehuri pa site to visit as well. Out at Butler Point itself you have the opportunity to take in the extensive water views across the inner harbour and of Mangonui township.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic and spend time in the grounds to further enjoy the surroundings following the tour.
