As soon as your cruise ship docks at Le Verdon port, our hosts will be waiting at the pier to assist you in boarding a comfortable, air-conditioned bus for the transfer to Bordeaux. The journey takes approximately 2 hours, following a scenic route through the French countryside. This transfer is scheduled to align with your cruise timetable, ensuring a smooth and stress-free experience.
Upon arrival in Bordeaux, your local guide will meet you and begin the guided portion of your tour. As the historic center is not accessible to buses, the visit will take place entirely on foot, with in-depth commentary on the city's history, architecture, and culture.

Cathedrale Saint-Andre Bordeaux
After arriving in Bordeaux, your local guide will take you on a guided walking tour of the city's main sights. A trained professional, the guide has deep knowledge of Bordeaux’s history, architecture, and culture.
Your first stop is Cathedrale Saint-André, a site central to Bordeaux’s history. This cathedral hosted royal weddings, including that of Eleanor of Aquitaine and the future King Louis VII. The guide will explain its construction phases, architectural changes, and role in the city's development.
Next to the cathedral stands Pey Berland Tower, built separately to protect the main structure. Those who wish can climb it during free time for panoramic city views.
3
Place de la Bourse
From the cathedral, you will continue on foot to Place de la Bourse, a key landmark that reflects Bordeaux’s transformation into a major trading center in the 18th century. Your guide will explain how this square was built as part of an urban renewal project that opened the city to the river, modernized trade, and introduced classical French architecture to Bordeaux. The symmetrical facades were designed to showcase the city’s wealth and power during its period of economic growth. In front of the square, the Water Mirror enhances the reflection of the buildings, creating an alternating effect between still water and mist. The guide will describe how this modern addition, installed in 2006, has become one of the most visited spots in Bordeaux, attracting visitors and photographers from around the world.

Grand Theatre
Next, the tour stops at the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, one of the most important cultural landmarks in the city. The guide will discuss its importance as a center for opera, theater, and ballet. The theater’s design was influenced by ancient Roman temples, with a row of Corinthian columns across the facade and sculptures representing the nine muses. It has hosted performances for over two centuries and remains a working venue today.
At this point, you will have 1-1.5 hours of free time to explore the city at your own pace. You can walk through nearby shopping streets, visit cafés, or try local specialties such as canelés or fresh oysters.
If you are interested in Bordeaux’s wine culture, an optional wine tasting is available at a well-known wine bar just a few minutes from where the tour ends. The tasting costs €30 per person, payable on-site, and includes a selection of Bordeaux wines with explanations from a local expert. No advance booking is required—just decide on the day.

Port Médoc
After free time, the group will meet at a designated location for the return journey. The drive back to the port takes approximately two hours, passing through the countryside and vineyards that surround Bordeaux. This provides a chance to relax and take in the landscape before reboarding your cruise ship after a day of sightseeing.
