Are you ready to turn your hobbies into a business?
This beautiful Art Deco building you have in front of you is the Biarritz Aquarium, formerly called the Sea Museum. Its beautiful white facade hides one of the largest aquariums in France for the discovery of aquatic fauna.
2
Plateau de l'Atalaye
This whole part around you is called the Atalaye Plateau. Atalaye means headland in Basque.
3
Port des Pecheurs
You know, here you are, on the old fishing port. Look at these pretty typical houses, white and red, they're called crampottes.
4
Rocher du Basta
There is nothing like small advances on the sea to take a bluish horizon bath. You have, from the tip of Rocher du Basta, a superb view of the fishermen’s harbour and the Sainte-Eugénie church on the one hand and the large beach and lighthouse on the other.
5
Casino Barrière Biarritz
Another emblematic monument of Biarritz, here is its famous Art Deco casino!! Try to get back in the mood of the time. This is the '20s.
6
Hôtel Du Palais Biarritz - The Unbound Collection by Hyatt
When Napoleon, third in name, realized that his wife Eugénie had set her sights on this small seaside town, he had to realize that he was going to have to do something about their accommodation.
7
Eglise Alexandre Newsky
You may not know it, but the city of Biarritz is dotted with a few Russian touches here and there. The Orthodox church you have before you is a beautiful witness to the passage of the Russian aristocracy, at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.
8
Chapelle Imperiale
The beautiful chapel you see is the imperial chapel that served as a place of worship for Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie. Very pious, she regularly visits the church and now wishes to gather in a private chapel.
9
Mercado Les Halles
Review for Basque flavour lovers, know that 150m away, in the Avenue Victor Hugo which opens on your left, are the Halles de Biarritz. We will not lie to each other, no visit to any city in France is complete without a stop in its gastronomic den!
10
Place Bellevue
So here you are on Place Bellevue. With a name like that, you expect a pretty good view and you are served! This square, like a gazebo on the ocean, overlooks the large beach.
11
Rue Mazagran
You are now taking Mazagran Street, the most typical street in Biarritz! If locals and visitors like it as much, it’s for its lively atmosphere and charm with Basque accents.
12
Eglise Sainte-Eugenie
This is the magnificent Gothic church of Sainte-Eugénie, overlooking the ocean majestically. Before its construction, there was the chapel of Our Lady of Mercy.
13
La Cote des Basques
Sorry to have made you go up Dalbarade Street like this, it’s promised now you’ll only get off! But it must be admitted that the view that opens up before you was worth it.
14
Villa Belza
This is the famous Villa Belza whose mysterious profile perched on the cliff side has become the emblem of the city. Its name Belza which means black in Basque, its proximity to the devil's hole and its rocky look with its medieval keep and pepper turret, have always fed the legends of the region.
15
Plage Port-Vieux de Biarritz
We now overlook the pretty cove of Port Vieux. With its fake Mediterranean look, this beach is a natural pool very popular with families.
16
Rocher de la Vierge
Here you are finally facing this emblematic image of Biarritz!! The Virgin’s Rock is inseparable from the image of the city and its history is intimately linked to its maritime and imperial past!
