Wat Khanikaphon (Wat Mai Yai Faeng)
Tucked away in a quiet corner of Chinatown lies Wat Khanikaphon, an ancient temple with a history unlike any other in Bangkok. Known locally as "Wat Mai Yai Faeng," this site was founded by Yai Faeng, the most powerful and influential madam of Yaowarat’s former red-light district during the 19th century. As the owner of a thriving brothel, she sought to earn spiritual merit by donating her wealth to establish this temple.
However, the history here is tinged with a touch of irony and hauntings; legend has it that when Yai Faeng asked a high-ranking monk how much merit she would receive for her donation, the answer was far less than she expected, as the money came from the "tears and toil" of her workers. Today, the temple remains a site of night working women devotion. You will see reality of old Bangkok that you won't find in any standard guidebook.

Chinatown / Yaowarat
While most visitors are drawn to the dazzling neon signs and the endless parade of street food on the main road, the true soul of Yaowarat lies within its labyrinth of dark, narrow alleyways.
Yaowarat is one of the oldest and most vibrant Chinese communities in the world, But as the sun sets and the crowds thin out, a different side of Chinatown emerges.
Deep within the shadows of backstreets lie urban legends and the story of the Ang Yee—the notorious Chinese secret societies that once ruled these streets with influence.
Beyond the stories of these secret gangs, you will encounter haunting tales of spirits bound to the shadows of the district’s dark past—stories so localized that you will never find them on the internet.
This is where history meets the supernatural, offering a glimpse into a side of Bangkok that remains hidden from the digital world, waiting only for those brave enough to look closer.
