We begin the experience at Jardín San Pablo, a quiet garden in the historic center of Oaxaca. Your guide will welcome the group next to the fountain and introduce the culinary traditions that make Oaxaca one of the most famous food destinations in Mexico.

Centro Cultural San Pablo
We pass by Centro Cultural San Pablo, a beautifully restored historic complex that was once a Dominican convent. Your guide will briefly explain its cultural importance while we begin our walk through the historic center.

El Centro Oaxaca De Juarez
Our first tasting introduces you to one of Oaxaca’s most beloved street foods: the memela. This handmade corn masa dish is topped with traditional ingredients and prepared fresh by local vendors.

At the famous “Pasillo de Humo” (Smoke Hall), guests will experience the vibrant atmosphere of traditional charcoal grills where local meats are prepared.
Here we will taste:
• Tejate, a refreshing traditional drink made with cacao and maize
• Chapulines (toasted grasshoppers), a famous Oaxacan delicacy
Trying chapulines is completely optional, but many travelers enjoy tasting them as part of the local culinary tradition.

We continue to the nearby Mercado Benito Juárez, another iconic market full of local flavors.
