Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau
The Auschwitz Museum & Memorial tour presents one of the most horrific acts in human history. Auschwitz after Second World War became a symbol of genocide, terror and holocaust. In 1940 in the suburbs of the city Nazi Germany formed a concentration camp, where not only Polish people perished but also representatives of many other nations. What is most horrifying about this place is that whole families, parents together with their children were brought to Auschwitz and murdered. At the end of the war some of the gas Chambers, barracks and documents were destroyed by the fleeing Nazis, but two parts of the camp were preserved.
A visit to this Museum is one of the most important elements in shaping attitudes, education in tolerance, counteracting the phenomena of anti-Semitism, xenophobia, prejudice and stereotypes.
Visitors are guided in groups and the tour takes about 3-3,5 hours. You will be required to walk a lot, so please wear comfortable shoes.
