9.40 am – Step off the ferry at Waiheke Island and meet Paora, your local Māori guide for the day. Your journey begins with a karakia (blessing) at beautiful Matiatia Bay, setting the tone for a day of connection to land, people, and stories. As you travel, Paora gently weaves stories of his culture, whakapapa, the island’s history and modern Māori life, so you’re not just seeing Waiheke, you’re really getting to know it.
From there, you’ll head to the village of Oneroa to explore local art galleries and grab a coffee while you wander at your own pace. Next, you’ll make your way to Onetangi Beach for for a relaxed lunch at Ki Maha or 372, two of the finest resturants on the Island with sweeping island and ocean views at the highest point on the Island, great food paired with a glass of Waiheke wine. In the afternoon, enjoy a hosted tasting at Cable Bay before your tour concludes at 3.00 pm, aligned with the return ferry. Ferry tickets, lunch and selected wines are all included.
