Senso-ji Temple
Sensō-ji ([sẽ̞ꜜɰ̃so̞ːʑi] ⓘ, 浅草寺, officially Kinryū-zan Sensō-ji (金龍山浅草寺), also known as Asakusa Kannon (浅草観音)), is an ancient Buddhist temple in Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan. It is Tokyo's oldest-established temple, and one of its most significant. It is dedicated to Kannon, the bodhisattva of compassion. Structures in the temple complex include the main hall, a five-story pagoda, and large gates. It is the most widely visited religious site in the world with over 30 million visitors annually.

Nakamise Shopping Street (Kaminarimon)
In 1688 – 1735, the temple’s neighbors welcomed and served visitors to the Sensoji Temple. Because of this help, they received the special right to open their shops in the approach to the temple. This was said to be the beginning of Nakamise. In the Edo period, the 20 tea houses located between the Dempoin and Niousan-side were called Yakudana. The shops located near the Kaminari-mon that sold toys, sweets, snacks, and souvenirs on the other hand were called Hiramise.

Asakusa Kaminarimondori Shopping Street
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.

Asakusa Rokku Yumemachi Theatre
Asakusa Rokku derived its nickname from its location as the sixth district (rokku) within Asakusa Ward. It has had a long, colorful history of catering to the whims and fancies of Tokyo pleasure-seekers.
Edo’s Kabuki theater troupes, declared degenerate and subversive by puritanic Tokugawa authorities, were banished in 1841 to the then-hinterland of the Asakusa farm fields located outside the city limits.
