Itinerary
1
Beirut
8:30 AM — Pickup from your Beirut hotel
Your professional guide meets you at your hotel and heads east on the Damascus highway — climbing through the Lebanese mountains as the beautiful Bekaa Valley opens below. First stop is Anjar, about one hour away.
2
Umayyad Ruins of Aanjar
Anjar — a wonderfully preserved Umayyad city
Arrive at one of Lebanon's most fascinating and most undervisited archaeological sites — the Umayyad ruins of Anjar, the only surviving example of a complete Umayyad palatial city in the entire Levant. Built in the early 8th century by Caliph Walid I — the visionary ruler who also commissioned the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus — the city was abandoned just decades after its construction, leaving it remarkably well preserved. Colonnaded streets, a grand palace with over 40 towers, a mosque, and bathhouses all still standing in the middle of the Bekaa plain. Your guide brings the full and fascinating story of this hidden gem to life — making it one of the most pleasantly surprising stops of the day for visitors who had never heard of Anjar before.

Stone of the Pregnant Woman
Stone of the Pregnant Woman — the perfect introduction
Before the temples, your guide takes you to the ancient Roman quarry to see the Stone of the Pregnant Woman — a single limestone block 21 metres long and weighing an estimated 1,000 tonnes, still lying exactly where it was cut 2,000 years ago. A wonderful and awe-inspiring way to prepare for the extraordinary scale of what awaits at the temple complex just minutes ahead.

Temples of Baalbek
Baalbek Temple Complex — a UNESCO World Heritage wonder
Enter one of the most awe-inspiring archaeological sites in the world — the Baalbek temple complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the scale of Roman ambition takes your breath away. The Temple of Jupiter stands on Trilithon stones each weighing over 800 tonnes. The Temple of Bacchus — larger than the Parthenon and almost entirely intact — is the best-preserved Roman temple in the world. The circular Temple of Venus completes an extraordinary complex that has amazed visitors for centuries. Your guide brings the full layered story of Baalbek — from Phoenician sacred site to Roman sanctuary — to life in a clear, engaging, and deeply memorable way for visitors of all ages.

Baalbeck
Lunch in Baalbek — included
A generous and delicious lunch at a local Baalbek restaurant — hearty Bekaa Valley mezze, grilled meats, and fresh flatbread in a town that has been welcoming visitors for two thousand years. Fully included in your tour price — nothing extra to pay.

Chateau Ksara
Chateau Ksara — Roman cave cellars & Lebanese wine
End the day on a wonderfully memorable note at Chateau Ksara — Lebanon's oldest winery, founded by Jesuit monks in 1857. The highlight is the extraordinary Roman cave cellar system stretching 2 kilometres beneath the winery — ancient tunnels where wine ages naturally at a constant temperature year-round. Walking through these fascinating caves after a morning at Baalbek creates a wonderful and unexpected connection — two Roman worlds in the same valley. Your guide leads the cellar tour and the tasting that follows — Ksara's iconic Cabernet-Syrah blends, crisp Blanc de Blancs, and beloved Sunset Rosé — making it an informative, enjoyable, and thoroughly delightful close to a wonderful Bekaa day.
