Galle is a major city of Sri Lanka which is located at the south coast. The distance from Colombo to Galle is 119km and driving hours will approximately 2 and half hours. This beautiful Coastal city is a major tourist destination of Sri Lanka and has beautiful pristine beaches. There are many sightseeing around Galle and the major hot spot is "Galle Dutch Fort". This fort was originally built by Portuguese in 1588 and fortified by Dutch in 1649. Galle Dutch fort is one of most well preserved Colonial forts in the world. When you visit this place, you will see there is an active small town inside the fort and you will see most of buildings are colonial styles. Some of buildings were built by Portuguese, Dutch & British. There are lot of colonial Boutique style hotels, restaurants and pubs inside the fort.
