Monastery of Alcobaca
Alcobaça is located in the valleys of the Alcoa and Baça rivers, which according to some writers gave it its name. According to other interpretations it was the name of this town of Arab origin that was divided to baptize the two rivers.
Alcobaça owes its fame and development to the Monastery or Royal Abbey of Santa Maria, founded in 1153 by the Order of Cister, and which began to be built in 1178, on land donated to Frei Bernardo de Claraval, founder of the Order of Cister, by the 1st king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques, in fulfillment of a vow made after the Christian Reconquest of Santarém, which was in the possession of the Moors until 1147.
Erected according to the model of the Abbey of Claraval, the motherhouse of the Order of Cister in France, the Monastery of Alcobaça is a beautiful monument classified as a heritage of humanity by UNESCO.

Villas and Villas
Typical fishing village, Nazaré is today a busy holiday resort, where, parallel to the crowd of tourists, you can still see fish sellers and shells stretched to dry through all the streets of the village. The neighborhood of Sitio, at the highest point of the village (accessible by cable car), is undoubtedly the best viewpoint in the region. But it is also associated with the cult of Our Lady of Nazareth, which, according to the legend of the 12th century, was invoked by the Alcide (commandant of a fortress or castle) D. Fuas Roupinho who, while chasing a deer, was about to fall into an abyss with no possibility of salvation. As a sign of gratitude for the mercy received, D. Fuas Roupinho ordered to build a small chapel - the Hermitage of Memory. A little further away, in the eighteenth century, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Nazareth was built, in whose honor grandiose feasts are held in September.

Obidos Village
The medieval village of Óbidos is one of the most picturesque and well preserved in Portugal.
Near the capital and located in an elevated area near the Atlantic coast, Óbidos had a strategic importance for the territory. It had already been inhabited before the arrival of the Romans on the Iberian Peninsula and prospered after being chosen by the royal family. King D. Dinis offered it to his wife, Queen Elizabeth, in the 13th century, and became part of the House of Queens, which improved and enriched it throughout the various dynasties. This is one of the main reasons for the high concentration of churches in this small place.
You will find a well preserved castle within the walls and a maze of streets and white houses that are a delight to stroll. Along with the Manueline porches, the colourful florists and the small squares, many beautiful examples of religious and civil architecture from the golden times of the village offer countless reasons for a visit.
