You are on the immense General de Gaulle square, delimiting the old town of the new districts of Ajaccio. The one that was called Place d’Arms at the time when the military used it for training is now commonly called Place Diamant.

Préfecture de Corse - Prifettura di Corsica
This beautiful yellow neoclassical building that you see in the middle of its tropical garden is the headquarters of the Prefecture of Corsica. Its construction was authorized by royal decree in 1822 and completed in 1830.

Place Foch
Commonly known as the Place des Palmes, Marshal Foch’s Place was created at the beginning of the 19th century as the Check-out from the suburbs that led to the Old Town of Genoa. Overlooking the square, with his gaze fixed on the sea, stands the statue of Napoleon, guarded by a fountain with four lions lying down.

You certainly see a few people in this narrow street, it is normal, you arrive in front of Napoleon Bonaparte’s house. On August 15, 1769, the future French Emperor was born here.
