African Influence in Market Religion and Community
Salvador
À propos
This incredible experience starts walking the streets of Rio Vermelho , Salvador's bohemian neighborhood, where the tradicional Festa de Iemanja takes place every year. Here, we will visit the fishermans colony and the Casa de Iemanja, to learn about the afro brazilian traditions, which so well reflects bahia's religious syncretism. Time to move on to the Market, with its vibrants colors and intense smells. We will walk the alleys and taste the cachacas (the spicy, sweet and fruity liquor distilled from fermented sugar cane). Lot's of leaves used in the cambomblé to do the traditional cleanning of energies. Great chance to lear about palm oil, coconut milk, yuca flour and all kind of peppers...

Get in touch with the baian soul by visiting a local market and interacting with people as tasting fruits or cachacas. Walking along the alleys of this traditional landmark of Salvador will allow us to feel the african influence so vibrant in the city that is 80% black! Mandioc and sugar cane, beans and a huge variety of candomble products that we will use in the ceremonies. If you want to go deep into the culture, this is an unforgettable experience.

Salvador
We will visit a community with its vibrant street art and astonishing views of All Saints Bay. The neighborhood is full of street art and is a special place where we can try some local seafood snacks (also they have other options on the menu) and sip some caipirinhas. This is an unique opportunity to delve into Salvador's social reality.

Palacete Das Artes Rodin Bahia
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Bahia (MAC Bahia) is one of Salvador’s most inspiring cultural spaces, located in the elegant historic building known as Palacete das Artes, in the charming neighborhood of Graça.
Dedicated to contemporary artistic expressions, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions, installations, and cultural events that highlight Brazilian creativity, diversity, and social dialogue. It is a great place to experience Salvador’s vibrant modern art scene while enjoying the beauty of a landmark architectural site.
