In Thai belief, donating a coffin is considered a powerful act of merit. It symbolizes helping the deceased rest peacefully and is believed to bring blessings, protection, and good fortune to the donor.
The ritual begins with a donation, where two papers are prepared:
A red merit paper with the donor’s name and donation amount A white prayer paper used during the blessing ceremony
The red paper is attached to the coffin as a symbol of merit and blessing. Participants pray while holding the white paper, expressing their wishes and gratitude. At the end of the ceremony, the white paper is burned in front of the incense burner, symbolizing that the prayers have been delivered to the heavens.

In Thai culture, making merit is considered a very important practice, and those who regularly perform good deeds are believed to receive blessings and protection. Among these acts, coffin donation is regarded as an especially meaningful merit-making activity, as it helps the deceased rest in peace and move on to the next world. It is also believed to bring good fortune and help fulfill one’s wishes.
There is no need for you to attend in person, as we will make the donation on your behalf at the renowned RUAMKATANYU FOUNDATION CHARITY in Bangkok.
Your name will be written on the merit document to represent the donor’s sincere intention and blessing.
According to local customs, the donation receipt will be burned after the prayer ceremony as a symbolic way of informing the deities that the coffin donation has been completed.
We will send photo/video of the merit document and receipt afterward, ensuring that the ceremony has been completed smoothly and respectfully.
