Chefchaouen Medina
Chefchaouen’s architecture has a strong Andalusian character. It is a town o extraordinary light and colour, its whitewash tinted with blue and edged by soft, golden, stone walls. This city tour will start by visiting Outa El Hammam. It’s a pretty square, with its cafés overhung by upper rooms and is great for a spot of people watching.
After that, you will be able to dig into the town’s Kasbah, a quiet ruin with shady gardens and a little museum of crafts and old photos.
After that, you will explore the blue street of the Medina and Place el Makhzen, the old government square, which is nowadays more of continuation of the marketplace, an elegant clearing with an old fountain and more souvenir stalls.
Finally, you will visit Ras el Ma (head of water), where water (tapped for the town’s supply) comes out of the gorge wall in a cascade so clear and cold that, in the local parlance, “it knocks your teeth out to drink it”.
