From the Highland Park, travelers are led into the UNESCO World Heritage zone of Icherisheher (Old City), one of the most intact medieval Islamic urban environments in the region. Within its fortified walls, access is granted to key historical structures: the Maiden Tower, the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and several preserved Caravanserais. These monuments provide direct insight into the political, architectural and trade-based history of the Caucasus during the peak periods of the Silk Road.

Ateshgah - Fire Temple
In the afternoon, the program extends to the Absheron Peninsula for engagement with two of the most rare and geologically active fire phenomena in the world. First is the Ateshgah Fire Temple, a site of historic Zoroastrian pilgrimage where natural gas flames rise continuously from the earth, integrated into centuries-old temple architecture.

This is followed by a stop at Yanardag-“Burning Mountain” where subterranean gas feeds open flames erupting directly from the hillside. These sites connect Azerbaijan’s symbolic identity as the "Land of Fire" to observable natural science and deeply rooted belief systems.
