Antisana Stop: A Scenic Viewpoint Along the Route to the Jungle Antisana is a majestic and mysterious volcano on the western mountain range. It is the nucleus of this protected area in which we find moorlands and western Andean forests. Volcanic activity, glacial processes, and evolution have created amazing scenery along the way and a very diverse wildlife. Mirroring the volcano we find the Mica lagoon, where part of the water of Quito comes from. Aside from the lagoon there are also swamp areas where water collects during rainy season, forming seasonal lagoons such as Santa Lucia or Mauca Machay. There are several rivers that are born within the reserve which then slide through the western slopes and feed the rivers Coca and Napo; in the valley of Tambo there are hot springs. A few years ago it was a difficult place to access, but now it is one of the easiest places to visit from the capital and other surrounding areas.

Visit the Malecon area in Tena, the capital city of Napo province. Tena is an inviting destination where travelers often find themselves captivated, spending days exploring its charms before or after venturing into the rainforest. The last town before the rainforest is Monkey's River Beach, just 30 minutes from the Eco-lodge. A must-visit is Misahualli, Ecuador, located where the Misahuallí and Napo rivers meet. This tranquil town, offering stunning jungle views and a vast sandy beach, marks the end of the road. Misahualli's most beloved residents are its monkeys, often seen strolling on the beach or in the central park.

Upon arrival at the Ecolodge, you'll receive a welcome briefing. After lunch, we'll equip you with rubber boots to begin exploring the primary forest along the Ceibo Ecological Trail. Here, you'll find various walking routes of varying difficulty, ranging from one-and-a-half hours to four hours. These trails will lead you through dense and humid jungle, traversing muddy paths and encountering diverse wildlife. Throughout the journey, your local guide will unveil the hidden secrets and wonders of the jungle. Return to the lodge, to change into your swimming attire before heading to the river beach.

After an invigorating jungle hike, refresh yourself with a revitalizing swim in the river. Relax on a buoy, and challenge yourself with a bit of hand-rowing amidst the breathtaking scenery.
