Depart Nairobi very early in the morning and proceed north, driving past lush pineapple, tea and coffee plantations to Sweetwaters Tented Camp at the Sweetwaters Ol Pejeta Conservancy arriving in time for lunch and a short rest. After lunch we visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and the sanctuary for black rhino. Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 90,000 acre wildlife conservancy situated between the foot hills of the Aberdares and the snowcapped Mount Kenya. The conservancy boasts an astounding variety of animals including the non-indigenous chimpanzees and the big 5 (the endangered black rhino, leopard, elephant, buffalo and lion). The combination of wildlife and stunning views across the open plains guarantees an unforgettable safari experience.
