Mycenaean civilization was the great civilization that developed in Greece during the last phase of the Bronze Age (1600-1100 BC). As the great poet Homer mentions in his poems, the name of this civilization came from the city Mycenae, which was its most important center.
Mycenae, the homeland of Perseus, was the citadel of the great king Agamemnon who is known as the king who commanded the Greeks during the Trojan War.
In Mycenae is located the outstanding tholos tomb called The Treasury of Atreus. The treasury is also known as the Tomb of Agamemnon, who was murdered by his wife, Klytemnestra and his lover Aigisthos after his return from the Trojan War.
