The Honghe Hani Yuanyang Rice Terrace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Yunnan, China, known for its breathtaking, 1,300-year-old terraced rice paddies carved into the slopes of the Ailao Mountains. The Hani people are responsible for this "land sculpture", which creates spectacular landscapes of varying sizes, particularly in Yuanyang County's core area, which contains the three main viewing areas: Duoyishu, Bada and Laohuizui.The rice terraces look particularly beautiful at sunrise and sunset and the frequent early morning mist that envelops the terrace creates a surreal landscape. Nov to Apr is ideal for seeing the blue terraces or mirror effect of the terraces reflecting the sky and clouds. Visitors can also learn about the Hani people unique cutture.
