Bagamoyo district, located in the Pwani region of Tanzania, lies along the Indian Ocean and is just 68 km from Dar es Salaam, approximately a 2-hour drive (3 hours incase of traffic jam)
Upon arrival, you'll begin your tour of Bagamoyo, a town known for its unique architecture and rich coastal culture, reflecting its pre- and post-colonial past. Discover its layered history, from the famous Bagamoyo Catholic Museum at the Holy Ghost Mission on Mango Drive to the old ruins of Kaole and the historic baobab tree. Bagamoyo is a blend of Islamic and Christian cultures living together harmoniously. You'll visit the Bagamoyo old market, once the largest slave market on the coast.
