Take a morning flight to Mekelle, then drive to the Tigray region to explore the stunning rock-hewn churches of Abuna Yemata Guh, Maryam Korkor, and Daniel Korkor.
Abuna Yemata Guh: Reachable via a one-hour walk and a steep climb along narrow ledges with sheer drops. The church is perched on a cliff, accessible via a ledge carved into the sandstone.
Maryam Korkor: Architecturally the most impressive, featuring a vast hall supported by 12 freestanding pillars.
