Aconcagua is the highest mountain of two Americas (6,962 m), and the highest mountain outside Asia. Aconcagua is entirely located within the Republic of Argentina, province of Mendoza, Department of Las Heras. It is one of the Seven Summits. In mountaineering terms, Aconcagua is an easy mountain if approached from the north, via the normal route. Although the effects of altitude are severe Almost 7km in altitude it can be walked all the way to the summit via the normal route without needing crampons. The steep 2.5km high south face offers extreme mixed routes which are amongst the most difficult on earth... Aconcagua is often underestimated, and this underestimation causes many serious injur...
