The guided tours take visitors on a journey through the eventful history of the Palace of Culture and provide exciting insights into the elaborate reconstruction that has made the house what it is today : a living place of encounter, music, knowledge and architecture. It shows how versatile the Palace of Culture is used as the home of the Dresden Philharmonic, as the location of the Central Library and as an open space for culture and the public. Particular attention is paid to the architecture of the house. The Palace of Culture symbolizes that Dresden has more to offer than just Baroque splendor; as an outstanding example of the Mid Century architecture of the former GDR, it tells of another chapter in the city's history of clean lines, new ideas and the courage to modernize. The guided tours bring this architectural quality to life and show how carefully tradition and contemporary use have been combined.
