Belgian Wines Tasting in a UNESCO Heritage Home in Ghent
Belgian wines is a booming and vibrant industry, yet still very small. Even in Belgium, it's hard to get hold of the wines as they come from many tiny estates scattered across the country and sold mostly in restaurants. Thanks to my background in the wine industry with sommelier courses and a wine master's degree in Bordeaux I've been able to made a selection of great tasting wines that also highlight the various aspects of Belgian winemaking. So in 1.5 hours you will get a full fledged immersion, an exclusive experience and special memories. Moreover, the experience takes place at a unique location: my penthouse is situated in one of the cosiest neighbourhoods of Gent, at a 10min walk from the city centre. The whole béguinage area is on the UNESCO heritage site list, and the house I live in was built in 1664. Outside it looks like hundreds of years ago, while inside it's been recently renovated without losing its historical veneer. It's lovely and spacious and waiting for you!
Your guide will escort you through Ghent’s architectural marvels, granting access to the historic city, each a testament to the Ghent's enduring legacy. Delve into Ghent’s legendary brewing tradition with the visit of the Artevelde brewery, where innovative beers are crafted with unique flavors. Experience an introduction to the brewing process, followed by a curated tasting of two extraordinary beers. The journey continues to the enchanting old port, framed by historic guild houses and the imposing Castle of the Counts of Flanders. Here, you will be welcomed into an exclusive tavern along the tranquil waterside, renowned for its selection of rare geneva gin. Relish three more artisanal beers, paired with gourmet local delicacies, delivering an unrivaled gastronomic experience.

Along the way, you’ll uncover the origin of Ghent’s name and step back to the very beginnings of the city, whose history stretches back nearly 1,400 years. Stroll past highlights such as Portus Ganda, the charming yacht harbour, the iconic three medieval towers — Saint Bavo’s Cathedral, the Ghent Belfry and Saint Nicholas’ Church — and the historic Graslei and Korenlei quays, once the vibrant heart of medieval trade.
