Vallée des Rois
The Valley of the Kings, or the Valley of the Gates of the Kings, is one of the most iconic archaeological sites in Egypt, hiding immense treasures of history beneath its rugged desert landscape. What may appear at first as a barren gorge is, in fact, the final resting place of 63 pharaohs and nobles, including some of the most powerful rulers of the New Kingdom.
For nearly 500 years, from the 16th to the 11th century BC, this valley served as a sacred burial ground where kings, their families, and their possessions were entombed in elaborately decorated chambers. Each tomb was designed to guide the deceased into the afterlife, adorned with intricate hieroglyphs and vivid wall paintings depicting religious texts and mythological scenes.
There are 63 tombs at the Valley of Kings and out of the 63 tombs, there are eleven tombs in the Valley of the Kings open to the public. Seven of them are included in your standard ticket and for other four you can purchase optionals.
