Kanayama Jinja Shrine
Kanayama Shrine in Kawasaki is a unique and vibrant Shinto shrine known for the famous Kanamara Festival held every April. This lively festival celebrates fertility, safe childbirth, and protection from illness with colorful parades featuring iconic phallic-shaped mikoshi (portable shrines). Beyond the festival, Kanayama Shrine welcomes all visitors with open arms, offering a rare blend of deep tradition and inclusive spirit. Located near Kawasaki Daishi, it’s a must-see cultural experience to connect with Japan’s rich spiritual heritage and lively local culture.
Please kindly note that a separate offering of 5,000 yen per person is required as an “initial offering” (hatsuho-ryo), which is a traditional Shinto donation made directly to the shrine to show respect and gratitude to the deities. This offering is not included in the tour price and should be paid directly at the shrine in cash on the day of the visit.
