Stop 1: Cortona – The Heart of the Story Our journey begins in the hillside town of Cortona. Walk through Piazza della Repubblica, the lively square where Frances goes to the local market and writes the postcard for the stranger. See the stunning Teatro Signorelli and soak up the authentic medieval atmosphere.

Next, we head to the majestic town of Montepulciano. Discover Piazza Grande, the breathtaking square that stood in for Cortona during the vibrant flag-throwing festival scene and where Katherine famously stepped into the fountain. Free time is allotted here for lunch in a traditional osteria and an optional tasting of the renowned Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.

Our final stop before returning to Florence is the magnificent Renaissance Temple of San Biagio, situated just outside Montepulciano. Surrounded by lush green meadows, this is the picturesque setting of the romantic wedding scene at the end of the film.

A short drive from the center takes us to the real Villa Bramasole, Frances Mayes' actual residence, and Villa Laura, the beautiful property used for the movie's renovation scenes. (Note: Both are private properties; viewing is from the outside/roadside to respect privacy).
