Along the canal, you'll come straight to La Petite France, the city's picturesque canal district. Near Place Benjamin Zix, you will continue along the Quai des Moulins into the canal system of "little Venice". Enjoy the beautiful surroundings, walk along the water and check out the cute, flower-decorated half-timbered houses.
Petite France is also the first good opportunity on your tour to stop for coffee, treat yourself to a snack or a more extensive lunch. You will find cafés and restaurants serving Alsatian cuisine. In the past, mainly tanners lived and worked here.

Cathedrale Notre Dame de Strasbourg
Start your tour at the city's most famous monument, Strasbourg Cathedral, in French: "Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg". If you like, you can not only admire the ornate façade here, but also get an overview of the city: Climb the 300+ steps to the church platform and enjoy the view.

Placer la colle
As a starting point for an afternoon stroll through the old town, head for the central Place Kléber with the Aubette shopping centre via Rue du Fossé-des-Tanneurs and Rue du 22 Novembre or Rue de la Grange.
Soak up the atmosphere and take a short break before continuing to visit the historic centre of Strasbourg.

Barrage Vauban
The walk over the dam is worthwhile because you have a great view over to the covered bridges and to La Petite France from there. The dam itself, which like the bridges used to defend the city, is also impressive. From the Vauban Dam, continue through the canal district towards the old town.

5
Pont Couverts
From Petite France it is a stone's throw to the covered bridges. Via the Quai de la Petite France you reach the bridges that lead across the canal. Covered bridges are called them because they used to have roofs. Im
In the 19th century they were used for defense. You will go a little further via the "Ponts Couverts" to the equally worth seeing Vauban Dam.

Palais de Rohan
Continue via Place du Chateau and Rue de la Râpe to Palais Rohan. If you have more time than a single day, you can stop here for a longer stop and visit one of the three museums: the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Arts and Crafts or the Museum of Fine Arts.
When time is short, just get a first impression of the Baroque building that used to be a residence for prince-bishops and cardinals, and quickly move on towards the canal to the dreamlike La Petite
France to get there.

Place du Marche aux Cochons de Lait
From the cathedral you can quickly reach the somewhat hidden but picturesque Place du Marché Gayot. Maybe there's time for a coffee or a snack? Around the square you will find cafes and restaurants. But you can also just enjoy the half-timbered house flair and move on. Especially on summer days, Place du Marché Gayot is a popular meeting place in the afternoons and evenings - you might return for a longer break later.

Eglise Saint-Thomas
Consider this beautiful pink sandstone building that is so characteristic of the city. The restoration is recognizable by the different color variations from light pink to white. That is what makes this stone – and Strasbourg – so charming! The building is a listed building.
