Ross Castle is a beautifully restored 15th-century Irish chieftain's stronghold in Killarney National Park, County Kerry, Ireland, perched on the shores of Lough Leane, ( known as the lake of learning due to its 10th century monastery on Inis Fallen) . The site consists of a rocky outcrop on which the main tower is built, defensive towers, and furnished interior with 16th and 17th-century oak furniture, offering guided tours and a picturesque setting for exploring Irish medieval history. Inside there is a free historical narrative of the origins of the castle and the subsequent wars and Anglo powers that controlled Killarney.
