The Búðakirkja Church is a small wooden church erected on the southern shore of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula – where road 54 turns from the sea towards the mountains. It sits as a strong colour contrast against the backdrop of the Snæfellsjökull glacier, highlighted by its colour on its white vestry, and this makes it the most photographed church in Iceland.

Arnarstapi is a village on the southern side of the Snæfellsnes peninsula, once a fishing hub and now a place for travellers to refuel before entering Snæfellsjökull National Park. The area has several old and charming houses with interesting stories to them and is renowned for its beautiful nature.

Known for its rock formations, this beach is one of the most stunning places to explore in the west of Iceland. Everything about this place is captivating, especially the black sands and colossal rock formations, volcanic landscapes, and remains of the Epine GY7.

Ólafsvík is a lovely little fishing town on the north side of the Snæfellsnes peninsula with a population of some 1,100 people. As in every town and village in Iceland, you will find a museum here in Ólafsvík, a folk museum located in an old, preserved storehouse, dating back to 1844.

Kirkjufell Mountain (Church Mountain) in Iceland is a mountain with a volcanic rock that sits in the west of the country, on the scenic Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Due to its unusual arrow-shaped peak and distinct coastal location, Kirkjufell is said to be the most photographed mountain in Iceland.
