The Great Pyramid of Cheops, with its original height of about 146 meters, was the tallest structure in human history for over 3,800 years. The Great Sphinx of Giza is one of the most mysterious and famous monuments of ancient Egypt. With the body of a lying lion and the head of a pharaoh, it symbolizes royal power and divine protection. The massive statue is about 73 meters long and 20 meters high and was carved from a single limestone rock over 4,500 years ago, presumably at the time of Pharaoh Chephren, whose pyramid rises just beyond. The Valley Temple of Chephren is one of the best preserved structures of the Giza pyramid complex.
