À propos
You are accompanied to discover Arequipa with vivid stories, well-kept secrets and the affection of a local friend. I will walk among laughter, culture and a lot of passion for my city.
The Plaza de Armas in Arequipa is the vibrant heart of the city and one of the most beautiful spaces in Peru. Surrounded by elegant colonial portals and dominated by the imposing Arequipa Cathedral, this square stands out for its architecture made with a volcanic stone called the ashlar. History, culture and daily life converge here: from ancient independence manifestations to modern chats in their cafes and balconies. In the center, a fountain topped by the “tuturutu” monitors the activity of locals and tourists. It is the ideal starting point to discover the charms of the historic center and be engulfed by the essence of Arequipa. In addition, its views of the volcanoes frame an unforgettable landscape at sunset.

Église de la Compagnie de Jésus
The Church of the Society of Jesus, located next to the Plaza de Armas in Arequipa, is a jewel of the mestizo baroque and one of the most emblematic temples of the city. Built in the 17th century by the Jesuits, its carved ashlar facade is a true work of art, full of indigenous and religious symbolism. Inside stand out its golden altars, the sacristy with an impressive painted dome and the Chapel of St. Ignatius, decorated with polychrome frescoes that surprise every visitor. Rather than a temple, it is a living lesson in art, faith and colonial history. Visiting it is to delve into the cultural mongrel of Arequipa, where European style and Andean expressions merge uniquely. Its beauty and details invite you to stop, look calmly and let yourself wonder.

Complexe de la Compagnie de Jésus
The Cloisters of the Society of Jesus are one of the most charming corners of the Historic Center of Arequipa. Built in white ashlar, these ancient interior courtyards of the Jesuit complex offer an oasis of peace amid urban bustle. Its galleries with elegant arches and carved walls with fine reliefs show the splendor of Arequipa colonial architecture. Today, they are home to fine craft shops, galleries and cafés that preserve the essence of the place, fusing history with contemporary life. Walking through its corridors is like traveling back to the past, surrounded by art, volcanic stone and a serene atmosphere. Perfect for a photographic break, a quiet chat or just to be engulfed by the silent magic of Arequipa’s living heritage.

Place, église et monastère de San Francisco
Plaza San Francisco is one of the quietest and most charming spaces in the historic center of Arequipa. Just a few blocks from Plaza de Armas, it offers a peaceful respite surrounded by colonial history and architecture. Presiding over the space is the Church and Convent of San Francisco, one of the oldest in the city, with its sober ashlar façade and interior filled with religious art. Around it, benches, gardens and palm trees create an ideal environment to relax or observe local life. This square is also home to the Natural History Museum and is usually the scene of cultural activities. Less crowded but just as beautiful, Plaza San Francisco is a hidden gem that connects the visitor with the quiet and spiritual essence of Arequipa, away from the bustle but loaded with meaning.

Fundo El Fierro
The Fundo El Fierro is a charming cultural and craft space located in the heart of Arequipa’s historic center. Once a prison, today it has been recovered as a meeting point between tradition and creativity. Its white ashlar patios and typical Arequipeña architecture house a permanent fair of local artisans offering handmade products: from textiles, ceramics and jewelry to organic products and folk art. It is the ideal place for those looking to take authentic souvenirs and support local production. In addition, exhibitions, workshops and cultural events are held in its open spaces. To visit the Fundo El Fierro is to live the art and identity of Arequipa up close, in a welcoming environment full of living history.
