Sanctuaire de Padre Pio
The church stands on the mountain of San Giovanni Rotondo and is adjacent to the pre-existing sanctuary and convent where the friar lived and where his remains were kept until he was transferred to the new church dedicated to him. The structure has a shape that recalls that of the nautilus, and its plan recalls the Archimedean spiral, whose fulcrum is placed in the center of the liturgical hall, in the place where the altar is located.
