Itinéraire
1
Château d'Osaka
Step inside the iconic tower rebuilt on Tokugawa-era foundations. Each floor reveals a unique layer of history—from castle architecture and defense mechanisms (2nd floor), to immersive visuals of the Summer War of Osaka (5th floor), and a personal narrative of Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s extraordinary life (7th floor). At the top, the 8th-floor observatory offers panoramic views of the city, blending modern Osaka with echoes of its feudal past.

豊臣石垣館
This fascinating underground site showcases original 16th-century stone walls from Hideyoshi’s fortress, uncovered through archaeological excavation. Built using the Nozura-zumi (unshaped-stone) technique, the walls speak to a time of urgency and military innovation. In contrast to the polished Tokugawa walls above, these natural, rugged stones offer insight into a different philosophy of power and construction.

3
Huge Stones at Sakuramon-masugata Square
Located near the Sakuramon Gate, the Tako-ishi is one of Osaka Castle’s largest and most iconic foundation stones. Its sheer size symbolizes Tokugawa authority and the monumental scale of their reconstruction efforts. Your guide will explain the political and symbolic significance behind its placement and preservation.

Porte d'Otemon
As you approach the grand Otemon Gate—the main entrance to the castle grounds—your guide will draw your attention to the surrounding stonework. Here, you’ll observe fine examples of Sangi-zumi, or layered corner stone construction, and learn how even the angles and joints of stone walls became expressions of craftsmanship and political message during Japan’s feudal era.
