The art work for Mami’s Brickell Ave bridge linking Downtown Miami to the Financial District of Brickell. This 53-foot tall bronze monument, located at mid span of the bridge, narrates the lives of the Tequesta Indians, Miami's first inhabitants. The sculpture includes 158 figures and is topped by a 17foot bronze sculpture of a Tequesta Indian warrior. Additionally, the bridge is adorned with four bronze bas-reliefs on the supporting piers honoring Miami's early pioneers”

From 1962 to 1974, the building served as the Cuban Refugee Center, assisting hundreds of thousands of Cubans seeking asylum in the United States. In 2008, the building was designated a National Historic Landmark.
