Robert R. Church Park
Visit this historic park established by Robert Reed Church, who was Memphis' first Black millionaire. The park's concert hall hosted notable figures including Booker T. Washington, President Teddy Roosevelt, and W.C. Handy, who became known as the "Father of the Blues."
While the original auditorium was later demolished, today's park memorializes the historic structure in an interesting architectural way that visitors can discover for themselves.
The park is part of the Memphis Heritage Trail area and is conveniently located next to First Baptist Beale Street Church.
For those exploring downtown Memphis, this park provides a valuable glimpse into the city's history just steps away from Beale Street.
