The exhibition takes place inside the historic Accademia Gallery, Venice’s most important museum of Renaissance painting. Housed in the former Scuola Grande della Carità on the south bank of the Grand Canal, the museum preserves masterpieces by artists such as Titian, Veronese, Tintoretto, Bellini, and Carpaccio. For this special exhibition, Marina Abramović’s works are presented both in the museum’s temporary exhibition spaces and within the permanent collection, creating an unprecedented dialogue between contemporary performance art and the great masters of Venetian painting. Throughout the galleries, Abramović’s performances and installations interact directly with Renaissance masterpieces, inviting visitors to reflect on the body, spirituality, and transformation across centuries of art history.
