Woodford Square
3rd pass by
Woodford Square, located in the heart of downtown Port-of-Spain, holds significant historical and cultural importance for Trinidad and Tobago. Historically, it served as a burial site for the First Peoples and was also a place where slaves were flogged and hanged by the British. Interestingly, it was the first location/site of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Trinidad. Governor Sir Ralph Woodford laid out the square as a park in 1817. Woodford Square has been associated with various groups, individuals, and events. It served as a stage for activists to raise issues related to racism, inequality, labor unrest, and high taxation rates. The square boasts unique architectural elements, including a fountain donated in 1866 and cast iron railings installed in 1892.
These railings are historically significant and require careful preservation. The fleur-de-lis motif, popular in French heraldry, is a decorative element in the square.

Queen's Park Savannah
The Queen’s Park Savannah is Port of Spain’s largest open recreational space. Covered with low grass, the 3. 5 km (2 miles) perimeter of the Savannah, as it is called by locals, is lined with large beautiful samaan and poui trees. Originally part of the St. Ann’s Sugar Estate, the Savannah, now owned by the state, is Port of Spain’s main outdoor recreational park. On weekends and week day afternoons, the Savannah comes to life and is the destination for sports enthusiasts, health fanatics, joggers, family picnics, strolling couples and persons seeking to indulge in the sumptuous local street food served by vendors. The Savannah is surrounded by many interesting attractions. If you are interested in nature, the Savannah’s north side features the Hollows, the Botanic Gardens and the Emperor Valley Zoo. Looking for a cultural experience? Then head to the Southern side to visit the National Museum, the National Academy for Performing Arts (NAPA), and the Grand Stand. Magnificent Seven

Maracas Bay
Maracas Bay is never empty. Its beauty – off white sand, palm trees and blue-green waters – attracts beach lovers to this crescent coast line which stretches for 2 km (1. 25 miles). Call it a pilgrimage if you will. Making Port of Spain the departure point from the west side, the drive is about 16 km (10 miles) from the capital. From the east traveling through San Juan and via Santa Cruz, the trip may take just under an hour. From either direction stone pillars are the landmarks that welcome you to the North Coast Road. The tumbling waves, with an average height of 1 meter (3 feet), make it an ideal place for body or board surfing. The expanse of beach is enough to accommodate the sunbather who likes her space or the nature lover who welcomes the sea blast as they set up camp. Maracas Bay has also garnered the reputation for being the lunch spot with an idyllic view. Known as the home of bake and shark.
