The trail up Lion’s Head follows a spiraling path that circles the mountain. At one point, the trail gives way to rough terrain where you must step up and use your hands to scramble over rocks. You then continue steeply upward to the first ladder, before traversing along a narrow ledge with a chain handrail. Next, you will continue until you reach a fork, where you will turn right up two rock pitches via two ladders from where you can carry on with the path to gain the crest of the southeast ridge. There’s a small parking on Signal Hill Road, between Kloof Nek and Signal Hill view point. Prior the hiking day a what's up location will be send to your cell phone.

Lion’s Head hike has a steep screw top route circling the mountain and takes approximately two hours to complete. You’re getting views in all directions from the vista of the Atlantic coastline to the magnificent Table Mountain twelve Apostles. The trail being rocky in some sections using your hands to scramble over rocks maybe necessary. Rising up 669 meters Lion’s Head summit has a 360 degree view, with Table Mountain as its backdrop. Lion’s Head is situated in one of the smallest floral kingdoms in the world.
