During the reign of Shah Jahan, there was a tree-lined canal running through its center, reflecting the moon. Hence, the name "Chandni Chowk" came to being which means "moonlight place". Shopping at Chandni Chowk is fun as the market is distributed in several streets and these narrow streets are inundated with vibrant varieties of clothes, Spices perfumes, electronic items, jewelry, candles & much more. India Gate (War Memorial Arch). Stop for photos at India Gate which is an Arc-de-Triomphe-like 140 feet high gateway that was constructed as a War Memorial in memory of the 70,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who lost their lives during the First World War. An eternal flame burns night and day to commemorate the brave soldiers who lost their lives fighting in the India-Pakistan War of 1971. Stroll up the broad avenue and enjoy the cool breeze. Raj Ghat - the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi, which is an elementary square platform of black marble on the banks of the Yamuna River, symbolizes the spot where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated followed by his assassination in 1948. A dedicatory ritual takes place each Friday, in his memory.

Qutab Minar, the tallest stone tower in India built to establish the might of Islam and the onset of Muslim rule in India. The tall minaret was constructed in 1192 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak and later completed by his successor Iltutmish. The soaring conical tower is an exquisite example of Indo-Islamic Afghan architecture & has survived the ravages of time impressively. This great masterpiece is surrounded by lush green gardens, which are an ideal leisurely place for visitors. Each of the 5 stories and towers of Qutub Minar has unique designs. It was hit by lightning a couple of times and was damaged & subsequent rulers repaired it. Thus it is standing mightily as it was before till date. Qutub Minar is the favorite destination of tourists. It is India's one of the most visited monuments.
