Zone archéologique de Caral
Caral is the oldest civilization in America, it developed in parallel with other cultures such as the Indian, Egyptian and Mesopotamia. Caral has been declared a Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. It covers an area of around 60 hectares in the Supe Valley and was inhabited around 2600 BC and 2000 BC Caral was discovered by Peruvian archaeologist Ruth Shady, excavations revealed an elaborate complex of temples, sunken plazas and pyramids.
