Acropole
L'Acropole d'Athènes, symbole de la civilisation classique, domine la ville. Son importance remonte au Néolithique, devenant une citadelle fortifiée à l'époque mycénienne. L'âge d'or d'Athènes, au Ve siècle av. J.-C., sous Périclès, vit la construction de ses monuments emblématiques, notamment le Parthénon, l'Érechthéion, les Propylées et le temple d'Athéna Niké.
Le Parthénon, dédié à Athéna, abritait une statue en or et en ivoire de Phidias. L'Érechthéion, célèbre pour ses cariatides, était dédié à Athéna et Poséidon. Les Propylées, l'entrée majestueuse, et le temple d'Athéna Niké, symbole de la victoire, témoignent de la splendeur architecturale de la Grèce antique. L'Acropole était un centre culturel et religieux, accueillant des festivals comme les Panathénées.
