Our tour begins at a unique tourist attraction with the combination of both cultural and military history of South Africa, the military ceremonies and exhibitions await you at the Castle of Good Hope. The castle was built between 1666 and 1679 and it is the oldest existing colonial building in South Africa. Here you are going to experience the dungeons, dolphin pool, blacksmith, canon fire, horse and carriage rides, and above all the tranquil atmosphere of the Castle of Good Hope.

The second oldest existing colonial building in South Africa is the Slave Lodge. This Slave Lodge housed slaves who worked for the Dutch East India Company (VOC) and they were never sold up until some of them were old and couldn't do the work. Here you will get a brief history of slavery in South Africa when it began, the lives of slaves, as well as when and why it was abolished.

The Cape Malay Quarters, known as Bo-Kaap. After our visit to Slave Lodge, we head straight to the colorful houses of the Cape. Bo-Kaap is where numerous rental houses were built and leased to slaves. Soon after the slaves were allowed to buy the houses they painted them with different bright colors as an expression of their freedom. Here there are a variety of craft markets, the first established Muslim mosque in South Africa, and also different restaurants with the most delicious dishes of the Malaysians and discover their cooking style.

After city tour, we will set off on our Constantia Winelands private tour which we have dubbed: The Simon van der Stel wine tour. We will travel from Cape Town along the M3 passing Rhodes Memorial and the University of Cape Town (UCT) and proceed on the M41 to our first wine stop for the day which is Constantia Glen wine estate. Perched high up on the hill with amazing views of mountains and vineyards, Constantia Glen was originally part of the Simon van der Stel farm. After undergoing farming changes including forest hills farming and cattle stud farming, it returned to its original farming of wine. The wine production is 70% Red and 30% White cultivars.

Nous nous dirigerons ensuite vers le domaine viticole historique de Groot (qui signifie « Grand ») Constantia. Groot Constantia est la plus ancienne exploitation viticole d'Afrique du Sud depuis 1685 et, même après avoir changé de propriétaire, elle continue de produire un vin de haute qualité et primé. La ferme produit 70 % de cépages rouges et 30 % de cépages blancs. Nous vous recommandons un délicieux déjeuner au restaurant Simon's ou au restaurant Jonkershuis, tous deux situés sur ce magnifique domaine viticole.

Notre prochaine étape est le domaine viticole Klein (qui signifie « Petit ») Constantia. Situé sur les contreforts du Constantiaberg et offrant une vue spectaculaire sur False Bay, Klein Constantia faisait également partie de la ferme Constantia de Simon van der Stel en 1685. Grâce à ses pentes de granit décomposé et à la fraîcheur de la brise marine, Klein Constantia produit certains des meilleurs vins d'Afrique du Sud. La ferme produit 30 % de cépages rouges et 70 % de cépages blancs.

Nous terminons notre visite des vignobles de Simon van der Stel par le domaine viticole Buitenverwachting (qui signifie « Au-delà des attentes »). Ce domaine faisait également partie de la ferme Constantia d'origine, fondée par Simon van der Stel. Malgré le changement de propriétaire, ils ont retracé les origines du domaine et restauré les bâtiments historiques. La ferme produit 8 % de cépages rouges, 90 % de cépages blancs et 2 % de cépages rosés. De là, nous retournons au Cap où les clients seront déposés à leur hébergement.
