This is a new and exciting tour created by our Company Managed Travel Services. Catembe is located on the south-western side of Maputo Bay, near the Estuário do Espírito Santo where the rivers Tembe, Mbuluzi, Matola and Infulene converge. You will learn on how the Tembe Family came about and thus the town is named after Chief Tembe. You will learn about the Goan community on how and when they emigrated from Goa and the influence they have instilled in the fishing industry. You will learn about the connection of Catembe people and people of Eswatini. Our qualified Tour Guide who is bilingual will pick you up @ your hotel and will accompany you across the bridge explaining what you will see at each point. He/she will brief you on the rich history of Catembe, and the diverse Culture that has been the cornerstone of this beautiful town. You will go to:
- Point Cais/Guaxene. You will learn about the migration of the Goan fishermen in the 19th Century.
- Local History Museum. Where you'll understand the history of Catembe and how the name came to be. You'll also gain a deeper understanding of the Catembe people and Eswatini connections.
