Being one of the oldest buildings in South Africa, the Castle of Good Hope is one of the historical stalwarts that is still open to visitors. It captures the historical events that took place in the Castle dating back 350 years ago. The Key ceremony and the Canon Firing all form part of the experience. Please note: The Key Ceremony runs Monday to Friday; Cannon Firing does not take place on a Sunday; These ceremonies are weather dependent. Inside the walls of the Castle, are amongst others, a church, bakery, living quarters, offices, cells and numerous other facilities. The yellow paint on the walls was chosen to reduce the glare from the sunlight and also because it reflects the heat.

Situé sur le versant oriental de la Montagne de la Table, Kirstenbosch est reconnu internationalement comme l'un des sept plus beaux jardins botaniques du monde. Le domaine de 528 hectares comprend un jardin cultivé et une réserve naturelle. Ce jardin aménagé présente des collections de plantes d'Afrique australe, dont de nombreuses espèces rares et menacées. Le jardin propose également des installations pour les visiteurs, notamment des restaurants, une pépinière, une boutique de souvenirs, une librairie et une exposition permanente de sculptures en pierre zimbabwéennes.

We begin our Simon van der Stel wine tour with Buitenverwachting (meaning Beyond expectation) wine estate. This too, had formed part of the original Constantia farm which was found by Simon van der Stel. Even though it changed ownership, they retraced the roots of the estate and restored the historical buildings on the farm. The farm produces 8 % Red, 90% White and 2 % Rose cultivars.

Here you will have the opportunity to taste the Chardonnay Reserve, Unwooded Chardonnay , Semilion, MCC and so many more award winning wines.

Notre prochaine étape est le domaine viticole Klein (qui signifie « Petit ») Constantia. Situé sur les contreforts du Constantiaberg et offrant une vue spectaculaire sur False Bay, Klein Constantia faisait également partie de la ferme Constantia de Simon van der Stel en 1685. Grâce à ses pentes de granit décomposé et à la fraîcheur de la brise marine, Klein Constantia produit certains des meilleurs vins d'Afrique du Sud. La ferme produit 30 % de cépages rouges et 70 % de cépages blancs.

Nous nous dirigerons ensuite vers le domaine viticole historique de Groot (qui signifie Grand) Constantia. Groot Constantia est la plus ancienne exploitation viticole d'Afrique du Sud depuis 1685 et, même après avoir changé de propriétaire, elle continue de produire un vin de haute qualité et primé. La ferme produit 70 % de cépages rouges et 30 % de cépages blancs. Nous vous recommandons un délicieux déjeuner au restaurant Simon's ou au restaurant Jonkershuis, tous deux situés sur ce magnifique domaine viticole.

Our last wine tasting stop Steenberg Vineyards. Steenberg produces a variety of wines, including Méthode Cap Classique, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Nebbiolo and the ICON wine Magna Carta. Here taste wines of your choice and get a brief history about them.
