Come explore the fort and discover this treasure of Maine and United States history. The Fort Knox Historic Site features one of the best-preserved examples of coastal defense fortifications constructed in the mid-1800s. It is America's first fort named after Major General Henry Knox.

Follow the old quarry road (steep, wide path, no climbing, but a steep ascent.) up the mountain for 1 mile, and discover a piece of Maine's past left behind on top of Mt. Waldo. Follow the loop trail all the way around the quarry for some awesome photo opportunities. Enjoy the incredible views, and an unforgettable experience!
